What is Panic Alert?

Panic Alert is a very simple service that will increase your security and safety. It is simply a special 800- (toll free) telephone number that is programmed into any telephone (cell phone included) speed dial system. Telephone companies support speed dial with their service as well as cell phones and individual instruments.

The Panic Alert number is programmed into the telephone and when that speed dial number is pressed, the Panic Alert number is called immediately. The call goes directly to our specially trained Panic Alert Central Station.

When you sign up for our Panic Alert system, you will include “emergency contact information”. This includes which people are to be notified in case the Panic Alert is engaged. These might be family, friends, neighbors or co-workers. The Panic Alert is silent. There is no need to speak for the police to respond. However, each Panic Alert call is monitored by our Central Station who will notify the police and personally notify the people on your contact list.

In addition, when a person signs up for Panic Alert, any special instructions about the customer can be kept in our system. This may include, special location info like:  house in rear, etc, or other helpful info, such as:  wheelchair, deaf, unable to speak, language challenges or any other special condition that can help the police when they respond.  The things that cannot be stored in our system are things such as “how to gain entry, or where a hidden key is kept.

Who handles the inbound emergency call?

The Panic Alert Central Station is ready to handle any Panic Alert notifications 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The state of the art systems are completely safe-guarded from any power loss to their facilities. The Panic Alert Central Station has not one, but two locations to handle Panic Alert notifications.

The Panic Alert Central Station has been successfully handling and monitoring emergency notification systems, such as alarms and panic alarms, for over 20 years. . Our specially trained Central Station Attendants monitors over 80.000 customers daily with 2000 responses a day. They are equipped and trained to give you the certainty you need to feel safe.

Can I use the Panic Alert system on a cell phone?

Cell phones are all capable of simple speed dial. The challenge is that cell phones are mobile; however the Panic Alert cannot keep track of the location of the cell phone. The cell phone can easily act as a panic alert instrument if it used in the “fixed” location of the address. The Panic Alert system does allow a customer to change their fixed location if they travel on an extended trip to a hotel, etc. It is important to note that the customer is responsible for the correct fixed location.

What if I press the speed dial by mistake, or initiate the panic alert in error?

After sign-up, you will be provided with a direct phone number to the emergency central station.  If you call this number immediately after initiating an erroneous silent alert, you will be able to notify the Central Station, by providing a personal security code. The police will be notified of your false alarm. Many police departments will respond regardless of cancellation, as a security precaution.

Enrollment, Billing, and our Refund policy

After purchase, how do I enroll?

Once your purchase is completed, you will see a link to our enrollment form. We will also email you this link, with detailed instructions. Once your enrollment form is completed, we complete your account setup. Typically, this takes 48 hours, or less. Then, we send you a confirming email with telephone programming details.

Initially, your account will be in test mode. Once your setup is complete, you will be able to test our system. We provide you with a special email link, so you can notify us when you are ready to “go Live”. We then change your account from test mode, to instant silent alarm mode.

Can I cancel the Panic Alert service whenever I want?

You can cancel at anytime by logging into your account online, and terminating your subscription. You can also email us: help@thepanicalert.com If you email us to cancel, we will reply with a confirmation. Your service, and billing will end as of the next billing date. We bill subscription renewals on the first of each month.

What is your refund policy?

We bill subscription renewals on the first of each month. We do not offer partial month refunds, and our small one time setup fee is not refundable, as we begin your setup immediately after purchase.
